About the IDR Group....
The IDR GROUP® is a group of International Dispute Resolution Specialists whose membership is made up of arbitrators, lawyers and other professionals from a number of countries around the world. They are qualified and experienced in International Commercial Arbitration and other Dispute Resolution processes. Throughout 2021-2022, the IDR Group is presenting a broad series of INTERNATIONAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION WEBINARS. Each Webinar deals with a unique industry topic and is led by a renowned expert supported by an apposite team made up of topic-experienced International Dispute Resolution Specialists.
Objectives
The objectives of the IDR Group® are three-fold:
- to provide a forum for the study of international dispute resolution in its various forms;
- to provide for the collegial exchange of knowledge and views amongst members;
- to give IDR Group’s renowned International Dispute Resolution Specialists enhanced visibility within the wider international dispute resolution community.
Spread
The IDR Group® has a wide geographical spread, with members in countries around the world: Bangladesh, China, Egypt, France, Ghana, Greece, Italy, Korea, Lebanon, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Experience
The experience of the IDR Group’s International Dispute Resolution Specialists reaches into the State level of international dispute resolution – Members have sat as Judges and Arbitrators in the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, and in the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg and elsewhere.

In addition to experience in the ICJ, the PCA and ITLOS, members of this group of independent international arbitrators and practitioners sit as arbitrators and / or act as advocates in the world’s major commercial centres – including Beijing, Cairo, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Paris, The Hague, Stockholm, Vienna and Washington.
Members have experience in international arbitrations conducted in those cities under the Rules of various institutions including the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce), the LCIA (London Court of International Arbitration), SCC (Stockholm Chamber of Commerce), CIETAC (the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission), ICDR (the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the international section of the American Arbitration Association), ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington D.C.) and various other arbitration institutions. Members also have experience in ad hoc arbitrations (including arbitrations conducted under the UNCITRAL Rules).

The IDR Group has a new address in London. We have moved with the International Dispute Resolution Centre from Fleet Street to St. Paul’s.

Panel of Expert Consultants
Connected to the IDR Group® and its team of International Dispute Resolution Specialists, is a separate Panel of Expert Consultants: including University professors and other professionals who may not be in practice as lawyers or arbitrators, but who are experts in fields relevant to international dispute resolution – and are available to assist the Members of the Group and their clients.
Members
Members’ experience reaches into the commercial and banking fields: one example is Stockholm lawyer Johan Gernandt who was Chairman of the General Council of the Swedish Central Bank as well as being the former Chairman of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

Another example is the renowned Dorothy Ufot: IDR Group member. Managing Partner and Founder, Dorothy Ufot & Co, Lagos, Nigeria. She is listed in the Global Arbitration Review’s (GAR) International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration Practitioners as one of the world’s leading experts in the field of International Arbitration. Dorothy’s appointments include Vice-Chair of the Arbitration Committee of the IBA; member of the IBA Task Force on Ad Hoc Arbitrator’s Terms; and member of the IBA Task Force on the Implementation of the New York Convention. Member of the ICC Court of Arbitration 2006- 2018.

IDR Group® Consultants include experts in areas such as petroleum, mining, metals, commercial crime, computational technology – and international affairs. Indeed, IDR Group Consultant: Lord Anderson of Swansea, chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons, and now sits on an equivalent body in the House of Lords.
